Potential memory issue in Web Viewer v0.9.48
Potential high memory issue
We have discovered a potential, high memory issue in the currently released version of Web Viewer, v0.9.48.
This is caused by a bug in a 3rd party internal database system used for settings and row value caching.
It leads to high memory usage by the Web Viewer Server process which can lead to server slowness and potential application crashes.
Working on a fix
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue.
We are swapping out the affected database system and will notify this list once we have released a fix.
Our plan is to release an update early in December 2025.
Mitigation
If Web Viewer is a crucial part of your operations, there are some mitigation strategies to consider:
- If possible, run the Web Viewer application on a separate computer from the TopView Engine, or any SCADA software
- Set Windows Service recovery to restart on the Web Viewer's Windows Service.
- Use TopView PerfMon (Free license) to monitor the memory of the Web Viewer process:
- TopView can notify you if the Web Viewer Server memory usage goes over your preferred limit
- It can also be configured to restart the Web Viewer Server process.
